Very Versatile: Meet Exigent’s ‘Controller’ Sydnei Tignanelli
Hi! My name is Sydnei. Yes, I know it's spelled differently - I have yet to find anyone with the same spelling. I am the Controller here at Exigent.
What is a controller?
Well, the typical definition of a controller is an individual who has responsibility for all accounting-related activities within a company. A controller reports material budgeting variances or expenditure variances to management. I, however, do more than just this.
Small teams require big flexibility - I have learned how to be very versatile in order to support my coworkers. Our group of four has the capability to do the work of a traditionally large agency - we all wear many hats! My role at Exigent falls within the many lines of Human Resources, Accounting, and Sales. In summary, I am the liaison with our print partners, point of contact for promotional items, and overall project manager.
Where did my journey start?
My resume of work experience all has one thing in common: working with people! While employed as a wedding planner assistant in 2016, I graduated from the University of Phoenix online with a Degree in Hospitality. Originally, I was looking to further my career in wedding planning but was having a hard time finding one at the time. Taking my management and people skills, I worked in the restaurant industry until I could find my true career path.
Come the fall of 2016, my sister-in-law called me and asked if I wanted a job in marketing at the company she was working at. On a whim, I took it and loved it! Fast forward to 2019 and my sister-in-law decided to branch off and start Exigent Creative Solutions. In becoming her right-hand woman, the Controller, I have found my passion. I love dealing with numbers, making sure that projects are on time, and working with our clients.
If I would have asked myself 5 years ago where I would be now, I would have not guessed this.
It's a juggling act!
In early 2016 I got married to my high school sweetheart. In 2017 I had our first child and in 2019 our second. I am constantly on the move to keep up with both these kiddos and my work responsibilities. These last couple of years have been very busy, to say the least! It has been a challenge to have young children and focus on my career - I'm sure all working parents can understand. Still, I am so thankful for my family and friends that urged me to work hard and follow my dreams no matter what life has thrown at me.
As I said, a small team requires big flexibility. Exigent Creative is a versatile agency - whatever your needs may be, let's talk about it! Reach out to us on social media or send us an email at info@exigentcreative.com
