REFLECTING on womens month and exigent's 2 year

History of Women's History Month

Women's History Month is a beautiful excuse to acknowledge the strength and ambition that women practice year-round. International Women's Day, March 8th, has been celebrated since the early 1900's. It was officially recognized by the United Nations in 1977, the same year the first "high-five" was exchanged. Coincidence? We think not.

The global workforce would not be what it is today without the many businesswomen and activists that came before us. Even though women have had the entrepreneurial spirit since before World War 2, the 1940's truly proved just how capable women are in contributing to our economy.

In 1988, Congress finally passed the Women’s Business Ownership Act. This act allowed women to tackle their business endeavors without the signature of a husband. Although the fight for equality is ongoing, you could say it's all been uphill since then. Women-owned businesses make up over 40% of the U.S economy - 115% more than 20 years ago - among many other recent (and VERY impressive) statistics.

Celebrating our women-owned business

It just so happens to be that March is also our anniversary, or work-iversary, here at Exigent Creative Solutions. What started as two women working together at a corporate in-house marketing department has turned into a flourishing small business. In a short two years, our marketing expertise has expanded into website development, graphic design, and promotional product management.

Our team now consists of four women, although with the number of services we offer you'd imagine us a team of 50 or more. Whoever said there is strength in numbers, must have forgotten just how many tasks one woman can juggle! (Yeah, feel free to Pin that quote right here)

Reflecting on the past two years

Our team took this anniversary as a time to reflect on how far we have come as a small women-owned business.

I can't believe that two years have gone by since exigent was born! A lot has changed in the world in the last couple of years and I could not be more proud of the way our team has grown and adapted during this time. I feel blessed every day to be working with such a talented, hardworking, genuine group of women. I can't wait to see where the next two years will take us. - Caralyn

The last two years here at Exigent have been more than amazing. Here, I have the ability to do my job and am able to give my input where I know it is taken seriously. Being a part of a small team has too many perks to count. I get to work in an environment where I am always comfortable to express myself, BE myself, and trust my team. I have known Carrie, our CEO, for 10 years. In that time, we have been friends, sisters-in-laws, and now coworkers. We have always had a way of communicating without words - part of what makes us work so well together! - Sydnei

The opportunities have been endless for me here at Exigent. Within the past two years, I’ve been able to grow my role into areas I never imagined working in. That’s the beauty of Exigent. It’s not just a job for their employees or a typical agency for their clients. It is a vessel for growth for everyone involved. Cheers to two years! - Amanda

I love anniversaries of all kinds - even when its Facebook Memories reminding me of the sweeping side bangs I got 10 years ago. Our two-year anniversary here at Exigent is a reminder of growth and perseverance. Not only did our team adapt to the recent pandemic, but we thrived during it. From launching our website to expanding our services - I am so grateful for the part I get to play on this team. It hasn't been an easy or traditional road, but that's what has made it all the more successful. As a diamond forms from heat and pressure, so our team will continue to find success in these next years to come! - Amber
